That's another good one, and in fact there are several other great art forums out there with active communities. Penciljack and the Flight forums are just two examples of many.

I think this movie was highly over rated due to its visuals. The story was a basic rehashing of the same old Pocahontas story, the evil white men come and kill everything in their path in order to satisfy their racist ideology. Yet, I don't buy this agenda. I didn't enjoy the fact that it portrayed all the US soldiers as heartless robots, shouting Oohrah and killing all the Navi. I think my main problem, is like you said, that the movie portrayed the situation as black and white. One side is pure evil, the other is purely innocent.

I think the Colonel was definitely a HERO for the Human Race, if people are so concerned about the exploitation of natural resources then stop having babies( which doesn't make any sense and then you would cry about it). I don't think a "tree-hugger" would want to see his family starve to death or die from cold because of the lack of resources, would you? Jake Sully was definetely a TRAITOR to the human race, as "miserable" as his life was as a human being, he was born human and he should have protected humanity's interests. "No matter how crazy your family is, you gotta stick with them till the end and help them through". It was so easy for him to trade a wheel chair for an improved alien body and some tail... Talk about being selfish... So: "Mommy, what's for dinner, nothing son, because Jake Sully betrayed the human kind", See my point? If it wasn't for tough bad ass men like Quaritch, we would have long been extinct as a race. It is survival of the fittest after all. Now, we gotta be realistic, no matter how sustainable we try to be, with an ever growing demand, there's nothing left to do but to EXPAND, now if we don't who is going to make the decision of who gets to LIVE or DIE? You?

I thought quaritch was heroic. I was sad when he was killed at the end, but I knew that was where the movie was leading.

I think jake was sefish to run off with the Navi and get all those Marines killed, when he could just have easily been one of the guys in the amp suits getting killed.

I did think the movie was brilliant though, to portray such a sympathetic "antagonist". The fact the he's so believable and likable makes it better movie than if he'd just been totally bloodthirsty and had like, a cape with skulls or something.

The Film.
Spectacular though it was in the IMAX theater, There were times when I forced my self to zone out, just because the seemingly "righteous" ideas they were filling me was at odds at everything I stand for. Yes I wear blue jeans. Yes I have a cousin in the Army in Iraq right now. Yes I believe in the Bible and in these United States. Nobody owes me nothing, I earn my keep. And suddenly you are telling these foundation stones of my upbringing are somehow evil? Cameroon can go fk himself.

Colonel Quaritch
He kept his word about getting Sully's legs back. How many promises did Sully break? How many races did he betray? Quaritch is a Hero. Just like the farmers, ranchers and soldiers of this country. They get their hands bloody so we can eat during the day and sleep during the night. And all Hollywood gives back is hate. Yes there are flaws in our system, but it is partly our failure to actively participate as the consumer and as the citizen.

Racism
The Latina pilot = good.
The only ethnic doctor = good.
The feminist (surely has no kids) preachy doctor = good.
The giraffe (Wimp called Norm) = good
Paraplegic = Hero
Navi voice actors = all ethnic.
Pandora doesn't look very good for the Healthy Caucasian Male with a pair, does it? So the Culture War on the White Male continues! God knows when they will kill Snap Crackle and Pop for a "Multicultural" Trio. Am I white? Am I half white? Nope. I am white only in my fairness. I grew up in a small town and I know when a guys taken one punch too many. An ethnic can hold parades because its "culture", but when a white man does it, its white pride, its racist. No other country would tolerate this bullshit. Its got to stop

Expansion of Human Race.
I am fully with you on this. Infact I should say, we do think a lot alike. I'm thinking mining the asteroid belt would be our next 100 yr expansion plan. We will have space truckers and everything. We as humans aren't the type to sit around and say, this pond is big enough.

In response to your comments Tobio, I can only say:

1)Continued increases in human population, while not sustainable in the current sense, should be a catalyst to develop technologies and processes that will allow us to both expand beyond the limits of our planet and solar system while also helping humans to maintain an acceptable standard of living on Earth while avoiding further damage to the ecosystem. But in my mind, efforts to slow population growth should only occur in the context of natural selection, not in a general 'we need to stop growing' sense.

2)If you ever read anything more than a baby's picture book or saw a movie more intelectually involving than Transformers 2, you would know that when I say that COL Quaritch was fighting for the security of the human race in the film, I meant it in a purely abstract and ideological sense, not a literal one. Of COURSE he worked for a company, moron! But I was saying that in indirectly helping mankind to gather resources and expand as a species, he is working for the security of humanity.

Wow,your an idiot. You have missed ever point of the movie and the survival of humans. With the procreation rate of humans increasing passed the point of its means is prof alone that we are taking the wrong path. Its the kind of attitude that you are portraying here that is going to lead to our extinction. When we run out of resources thanks to mass cultivation to feed the over whelming amount of people on earth, we will be our own demise. The concept of slowing down our procreation is a major roll IN our survival.

On an other point. Colonel Miles wasn't destroying the Na'vi for "the security of the human race". They were destroying the heart of a whole network of life forms for mining purposes to please stockholders. This major flaw in your "theory" makes me wonder if you even paid any attention to the story line at all, or were you just ignorantly blinded my flashy colors and half naked blue ladies.

We're definitely planning on breastfeeding too, and my wife is hoping to do it for the first year if she can. I was surprised at how many friends we know and couples we met that are pregnant who are NOT breastfeeding!! After doing the research it's a non-decision if you really care about the health and development of your child...

hear hear!! It's good to know that other young couples out there are doing the research to make INFORMED decisions on the births of their children.. our last child was only induced due to the risk of low amniotic fluid (when her "water broke" there was almost no fluid to speak of), but was without intervention of an epidural... while I'm not the expert, I should hope that the two of you will also be following up with the awesomeness that comes from breastfeeding as well.. if you need, I can pass through some great resources and information.. the pros FAR outweigh the cons...
