Congrats! I must say that I've had a mini iPod for years, and I did at one point figure out how to put songs on it, at least, but I never became familiar enough with the software to make the utmost use of it. I come across my little mini in a drawer sometimes, and I think of how nice it would be to update all my music on it, take it on my walks, on the bus...and then I think of the software and close the drawer.
I do understand what you mean about not wanting to embrace trends. I have been fighting the temptation to buy a Vera Bradley bag lately. I think her designs are super cute, but I constantly see all of these freshman college girls carrying them, and then I hold off on buying one for a bit longer. Just the other day I saw some high school prep school girls walk into a Starbucks (of course) carrying their VB bags, and any gleam of hope I held out for owning one diminished instantly.
